How do people get Legionaires Disease?
The agent that causes Legionnaires' disease is a bacterium called Legionella pneumophilia. People catch Legionnaires' disease by inhaling small droplets of water suspended in the air, which contain the bacteria. These droplets can come from your shower, a garden sprinkler system, fire hydrants, fire sprinkler system and many more areas that you are probably not aware of.
If your cold water storage cistern's pipes are set out incorrectly, you may get stagnant water...if your water cylinder is incorrectly installed you may get stagnant water, if your pipework is incorrectly fitted, you may get stagnant water, all of which is a breeding ground for Legionella Bacteria or Legionaires Disease which you can contract within your own home.
